Lucero in Por ella… soy Eva

ABC To Remake Hit Telenovela ‘Soy Tu Duena’ With Eva Longoria Producing

ABC is developing an English-language remake of mega hit telenovela Soy Tu Dueña, with Jorge Zamacona (10-8: Officers On Duty) writing and Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria executive producing. ABC’s version will be co-produced by Televisa, the company behind the Mexican telenovela; Lionsgate TV; and ABC Studios. It centers on a Texas heiress who loses her fortune and is forced to move back to the ranch she grew up on. Zamacona will serve as showrunner and executive produce with Longoria though her Unbelievable Entertainment, as well as Tariq Jalil, who helped put the English adaptation together, through his Intrigue banner. Soy Tu Dueña — which means I’m Your Owner but is translated into English as “A Woman Of Steel” — itself is a remake of the 1995 telenovela La Dueña. Well, the dust has settled and it turns out the real killer was and has always been Gabriela Spanic's diet, not Maria Celeste Fernandez, who, for some really fucked up reason, is still in jail.

How does Gaby sleep at night knowing she consciously jailed an innocent person? We don't really know. What we do know is that this bitch is merciless and hard-to-the-motherfucking-core.

Thankfully Maria may leave jail soon, since nothing has been proven against her and, well, people are no longer paying attention to this zafarancho.

Cañaveral De Pasiones Will be Remade

Production will soon start on the remake of Cañaveral De Pasiones.

Rumor has it that Sebastian Zurita will take the lead role, which is actually a very neat casting choice.

You see, he acted in the original novela as the young version of the protagonist, so now he is basically reprising the role.

Still, not a good enough reason to continue with these redo novelas.

Good and Bad News for Telemundo Ratings

La Reina del Sur, with the fantastic Kate Del Castillo, was the highest-rated program in Telemundo’s 19-year history, reeling in 4.2 million viewers overall. Good news.

La Casa De Al Lado, which replaced La Reina and boasts a stellar cast including Catherine Siachoque, averaged more than 2 million total viewers making it one of the highest premieres in the network’s history. Good news.

On the contrary, the Jencarlos Canela novela, Mi Corazon Insiste, kicked off with dismal ratings and the numbers continue to drop.

That novela premiered with a 3.9 ratings score…compare that with competitor Univision’s Teresa numbers at 18.9. Ouch! Bad news.

The network certainly was on the upswing in the second quarter of 2011 and hopefully they can keep it up now that La Reina Del Sur is over.

She obviously impressed producer ‘El Güero’ Castro who was behind Teresa and will head this new movie.

It has to do with drugs and money laundering, which is not a far cry from LRDS…but, hey, he was perfect as El Ratas and sometimes you just have to stick with what you do best!

Could be an interesting pairing.
